The Superpowers Game

Postby HopefulNebula » Sat Jul 13, 2013 10:23 pm

This one is pretty simple and should spice things up a bit.

Part 1: Go to http://powerlisting.wikia.com and click the "Random Page" link. Or just click here.
Part 2: The power that comes up is now your superpower. Post here to announce it and tell the world what you'd do with it.
Part 3: No refreshing until you find something awesome. If your superpower is "yarn manipulation," that's that. But you can post again with a different power after a few other people have posted.

Mine is Ferrokinetic Combat. Does it only have to be combat-related things, I wonder? Even if so, I could totally have used that in middle school. And now that I'm (somehow) an adult I'd make big bucks making stuff for people.

I got Decelerated Aging.

That's a tough one to save the world with, but I would keep a detailed journal of everyone I saw, everyone I knew and I would use my hefty stock portfolio to make sure I'm where all the historic action is. I'd go to college several times, and I'd really enjoy dating. I'd also collect clothes that would become "vintage."

The possibility of a power like yarn manipulation reminds me of the show Misfits, a British sci-fi show about a group of teens doing community service who get superpowers in a freak storm. At one point, this kid, Brian, steps forward to the media that he has a power, but it's only lactokinesis - the ability to control milk and milk products - and as he meets other superpowered people, they all think it's pretty lame and the media starts to overlook him for the cooler powers, so he becomes a killer. He actually almost bests our "heroes", drowning or suffocating them with things they'd had to eat or drink, and even winding mozzarella from a pizza around the cerebral cortex of the immortal one, leaving him brain-damaged. It's only thanks to the one that can time travel that he's thwarted. So even the most useless sounding power can become deadly, if used imaginatively. I read a manga once about a character who got stuck with growing trees as his superpower, but he really mastered using it tactically.

But, on topic, I apparently have a Monster Soul. It's not very specific, so I'm going to just pick one. I'd probably be something werewolfesque like the Michigan Dogman / Beast of Bray Road. I would probably just go off into the wilds to live like the animal I am, and show up once in a while on quiet country roads to spook passersby so their account can get published in a book by Linda Godfrey. I'd also go in search of other cryptids to see if they were Monster Soul people too.

Or perhaps I have multiple monstrous souls? One would be some type of giant hideous Lovecraftian abomination. One would be the aforementioned canine creature. I think another would be some kind of monster tiger, because they're awesome. If you needed me to save the world, you'd have to talk me into it with the promise of kitty or doggy treats... or the howling souls of a thousand doomed sinners screaming forever in hell. Depending on which soul was in play, you understand.
"Is that really how you see me? The eternal pessimist? The grim reaper? I don't want to die, what makes you think I want to die?"

I got Almighty Object.

"The user has possession of an item/weapon/object that grants Omnipotence or Nigh Omnipotence to it's wielders, allowing the user to satisfy their every desire. The item/weapon/object allows the user to become a god. The user is basically unstoppable and can do anything they want."

Cool.

I got "Dimensional Barrier Distortion". What would I do with it? Well, for one, I'd go around telling people that my superpower was Dimensional Barrier Distortion because it just sounds so friggin' cool. :ugeek:

Other than that, the possibilities are so endless with this one that I can't really sort it out. It'd be cool to use it to move people out of the way of major disasters. And can you imagine fire fighting, using this superpower? Honestly though, I'd probably use it to travel faster and farther in an instant, or find some quiet time in another dimension to finish my dang fanfic. Oh, and play with/annoy the cat.

I'm jealous of what everybody else got. I got Plant Communication.

Um...not quite sure what I'd do with that, but I think I'd start with resurrecting the houseplant that Sherman ate...

I got Bionic Physiology.

Well, I think I'd just make myself really healthy and strong and kind of immortal. And carry on as usual.
I have an AT&T avatar and you don't.

I got Holy Fire Manipulation. Not good for someone who already likes to play with fire.
Old enough to know better, but that's never stopped me before.
