Author Volunteers Needed!

Since next month is our birthday, Honeybee and I thought it might be neat to find a fun way to boost the number of reviews in the archive. I came up with something that's part challenge, part contest.

The contest part: The member who makes the most new reviews (excluding drive-by one-liners) during the month of September will get to pick an author from a list of volunteers and ask them to write a fic, just for them. It will work like the holiday gift exchange, in that the winner will request three things they want, three things they don't want, and suggest a prompt.

In the event of a tie, each winner will get to select a different author.

I have not yet decided if I'm going to extend this to second or third place winners as well. It will depend on how many authors participate, I think.

ETA: this pool of authors will also be used for the New Reviewer contest.

The challenge part: Unlike the Holiday Gift Exchange, authors will have a little more control over what they will/won't write. Volunteers will post to this thread with the following information filled out:

2. Super-heavy angst--not because I don't like it, but because I'm not confident that I could write it without it coming off too melodramatic/stupid.
3. For the purposes of this challenge--anything that requires a lot of military/strategy stuff. I'll be in the midst of fall semester and won't have a lot of time to research it enough to write it well. (Sorry.)

I'm willing to write any of these but, honestly, my strength right now is GEN especially if you want something suspenseful. I'm decent at throwing in a dash of HET and/or SLASH into that overall framework and that would be my preference. But feel free to ask for something more from me.

Not sure really. (I'm fine writing a deathfic, AU, MU, whatever.) I won't write something misogynistic, racist, excessive or gratuitous violence, etc. but I don't expect anybody here to be asking for those kinds of fics. Essentially anything of the type that's already in the archives I'm fine with writing.

BTW, I'll add one other thing I'm willing to do: co-write, if the other author is willing.

Hm. This is a toughie--only because I know that those at DE wouldn't request the awful kind of stuff that I see in bad fanfiction. LOL

1. Anything that requires serious science and/or technobabble. (I totally suck at it, and I have no interest in taking my Trekkiness to that level. )
2. (Stealing from Aquarius): "Make one character look bad/stupid in order to make another look better."
3. Anything more than a oneshot. I have so much on my plate these days, I can only handle one epic story at a time (which, at this moment, is Dark Echoes).
