My apologies if this is in the wrong spot, but I wasn't sure where else to post! So, please feel free to move it wherever is good!

Okay...

Over at Trek United they were planning something to celebrate 10 years since the début of Star Trek Enterprise on September 26th. Unfortunately nothing has come about yet. So, I was thinking...

Is there something we can do to mark this excellent occasion? I had one thought and that was to have a twitterfest while watching the first episode, Broken Bow, but that has it's problems, foremost being trolls (if that's the right word)!

Any other thoughts???

Hey, I'd be down for a Twitterfest. I'd get the group of rpers/characters involved too. :)

Either way, I think we should do something to mark the occasion. We are an Enterprise-specific fan site, afterall.

September 26th ... hm. I'll give this some thought this weekend. Thanks for mentioning it!

Yes, we'll definitely have to mark the occasion. Rewatches, twitter…all that!

Any ideas yet? (I've been thinking about this, since the Twitter group would really like to mark the occasion in some way and involve our audience. We're thinking something part-story, part break-the-fourth-wall. We're not sure yet. I haven't come up with anything particularly interesting.)

Unfortunately, the tenth anniversary of Enterprise also falls shortly after the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I'm already starting to see the retrospective stories on the horror, anxiety and turmoil of that day and the weeks, months that followed. It's a big deal, considering the impact it had on history. But it's also highly emotional. Hopefully it'll be cathartic for those that need it.

Trying to mark ENT's tenth anniversary in the shadow of that may be difficult. Still, ENT provided something positive and - as the "new love for Enterprise" thread seems to indicate - growing in popularity. The third season was a well done allegory for all of 9/11, from the loss of life, to the changes it wrought in people, to the lasting effects both positive and negative. It would be good to point this out.

Well, we could certainly promote a "twitter party" with the role players.

Shanna, I'm sure, would be willing to give whatever we decide to do some play on Trek.fm

And I think we could just have a good time with some theme rewatches.

This gives me an idea for a story -- the crew 10 years after the launch of Enterprise. Unfortunately, I won't have time to write it.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of the Twitterfest while watching Broken Bow! My only concern are trolls, but I suppose they can be ignored. Plus, another idea would be to invite the stars who are on twitter, Connor, Joelene, Anthony, etc... to come and join us? But someone braver than I would need to send that invite!

You know, I did have a slogan in my head to advertise this, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was???

And, your right, EntAllat, I think this would be extremely cathartic for people to do something to lift there spirits after the 9/11 observations!

The one celeb who seems like he might be most open to something like that is Anthony Montgomery. He interacts with fans often.

Connor and Jolene are rarely on Twitter. Jolene used to tweet a lot but I don't think it's any coincidence that her Twitter use slowed way down around the time of her pregnancy. Connor only uses his account to to tweet stuff about his career, answer a couple of friends, and put up the occasional picture of his kid. Not sure if Anthony has kids, but Jolene and Connor seem pretty busy as parents and may not have time for this kind of thing.

If someone has an in with them, I wouldn't object to them asking. I'm just saying let's not get our hopes up.

Regarding the 9/11 question: I'm of two minds of this. One is the question of appropriateness that people are concerned about. The other, however, is that if anything, Star Trek has always been a symbol of hope. Gene always wanted to show that our people overcome tragedy and become something better than we are. We don't just stop because something terrible happened. To "dial back" a celebration of Enterprise would seem inappropriate when considered through that lens. We need to acknowledge 9/11, yes, but I don't think that we should feel disrespectful for doing our thing. If we *don't* do our thing, terrorism wins. I think if we approach this in the spirit of hope that Gene embraced, we'll be okay.
