Hoshi and Travis

I don't see a lot of fic shipping these two, but they do exist. I saw them as more of a brother/sister kind of thing. You know, Hoshi daring Travis to sit in the captain's chair while Malcolm's off the bridge reminded me of a sister egging on her big brother.

They're close in age and both ensigns. Unfortunately, you don't SEE a lot of their friendship on the show, except maybe for "Dead Stop", when she pays a visit to Sickbay when they all thought Travis was dead. Practical joker, yeah, I see it. But they didn't show it on the show.

Well, most certainly - the idea of a romance was advanced in the MU episode. Of course, I think Empress Hoshi was just using someone she thought wasn't smart enough to be a threat to her! So, I wouldn't call that true love - more like FWB.

In the RU, I don't see even see FWB happening. Travis seems like a nice guy, not the brightest egg - and let's face it - Hoshi's a genius.

Reed may not be genius, but at least he's read Ulysses.

But I agree, Dead Stop certainly showed that Hoshi considered Travis a friend.

That's always going to be a funny moment in my mind. But its true. It's a good friendship from the start.

I definitely got more of a brother/sister vibe from them than any potential romantic vibe. I wish they'd developed Hoshi and Travis' friendship more as the show went on. They were nearly always the ones left behind while Archer, Trip, and T'Pol (and occasionally Reed) ran around having all the fun. They were the lowest-ranking, and least experienced, members of the senior staff. Travis probably encountered dozens of different languages during his days as a Boomer. It just seems like they'd have a lot to talk about and bond over.

There was a scene in one of the Andorian episodes, I think it was, in the last season. It was just Hoshi and Travis, sitting in the mess hall, going through all the guidelines for the fight Archer was going to have with Shran and trying to find some kind of loophole. I loved that scene because it showed them really working together, not just her at her comm board and him at the helm. (The only thing I didn't like was the camera work, which had them at the center of a circle, and it kept moving around the perimeter. About made me dizzy!)
Old enough to know better, but that's never stopped me before.

That was in "United." A great scene from a great episode!
