Support for the People of Norway

Postby Honeybee » Sat Jul 23, 2011 2:06 pm

Like many people, I\'ve watched in horror at the unfolding events in Norway. I know that in this case, there\'s probably little need for financial support, but I do think the country will need emotional/moral support as they recover from and come to terms with this terrible event.

It\'s a good reminder that terrorism comes in many flavors and colors, and so far information is very spotty. But come what may, the people of Norway need to know the world is in their corner.

Cnn reported the Killer was wearing a policemens uniform when he made an announcement to draw the kids to him before shooting them 94 kids were murdered yesterday. I'm horrified beyond words at the stories of the kids who survived this terrible tragedy.

I added a pic badge to my twitter account. I know it\\\'s a small gesture, but I also remember that the outpouring of post 9/11 sympathy toward America in all corners of the world meant a great deal to me - and most Americans that I know. I still have an image of the Queen of England and members of the British Parliament singing an American patriotic song together (I think it was God Bless America) - and it still stays with me. So, gestures of support can mean something.

I added a support Norway badge to my twitter. If there\\\'s something else tangible I can do, I\\\'ll do it.

thanks for the link. I've added a badge to my twitter and facebook pictures. My husband is half-Norwegian (his mother moved to the States in her early 30's), and he has some family in Oslo. So far, it seems none of them were affected, but it's still hitting close to home for us.

Yes, thank you for the link, Honeybee! I have also updated my twitter and facebook pages.

Misplaced, I do hope that none of your husband's family were caught up in this.

My heart goes out to them. What an awful tragedy!

What a great idea for support, Honeybee. I have friends in Norway and I visited a couple years ago. Such a tragedic event.

Thanks everyone! This is such an awful thing, and there's really so very little any of us can do to help, but I still believe gestures of worldwide support might help some people through the grieving process.
