Ok, I've known about this for a couple of days, but I was waiting on confirmation/denial from Jolene herself before I said anything.
There is a bogus Twitter account out there that's pretending to be Jolene, following fans, etc. It followed the Expanse's account a couple of mornings ago. If you don't look too closely, it looks just like her real account--same background wallpaper, same profile pic, same location and quote, etc.
On closer inspection:
- only 3 of her most recent tweets are copied over
- the real Jolene is greatly loved and has over 5,000 followers. The fake only has a couple hundred.
- conversely, Jolene is a busy lady and is only following 10-15 accounts, while the fake is following over 1,000, including fans and stupid crap.
- the url to Jolene's real account is
http://www.twitter.com/JoleneBlalock. This means that JOLENE BLALOCK appears by per profile pic.
- the url to the fake is
http://www.twitter.com/JoleneActress. By the profile pic, it says JOLENE ACTRESS. This is the main way they're trying to fool you. On Jolene's REAL account, her name is by her profile pic, but off to the side where the name, location, and bio info go, she put "Jolene, Actress." The fake has "Jolene Actress" in BOTH spots, minus the comma where it says "Name:"
-also, a close look shows that what the real Jolene put for "Location:" ("Second star to the right."), the fake included in the field for the bio quote.
So, if you're on Twitter and this account follows you, just block it. I tweeted her about this through the Expanse's account, and she sent
this tweet late last night for all her fans to see, so we've got it directly from her.
ETA: since last night, she has changed the "Jolene, Actress" thing on her page to say "Jolene Rapino". This is likely to prevent further confusion with the fake account. So if you see *both* last names on it, you know you've got the right one.
