Yeah, we're aware of it. That's why Honeybee is giving a 5-word leeway either direction in the rules for the Delphies.
The problem is, it's not just our software. Word counters in different word processing programs and word counting websites have different criteria for what a "word" is. For some, it's any string of characters that occurs between two spaces, regardless of how long. Others define a word as five characters, just like the old days when we learned to type on typewriters. Some will count hyphenated word as one, some will count it as two.
So as nice as it would be to have the archive match up to what we've got going on at home (and believe me, Honeybee will tell you I've bemoaned this often), it just won't happen unless all the word processors and websites become standardized.
