Okay, so here's the thing: we know we don't have a lot of T'Pol/Hoshi happening here. So you might think, what's the point of a nomination?

I'll tell you what: even a story that doesn't have opposition in the actual voting still earns an honorable mention--an acknowledgement that enough people liked it enough to nominate it.

And if we can publicize an honorable mention even if we can't announce a "winner"--it still raises the profile of the 'ship, the author, and the story, and hopefully attracts other fans of the 'ship, and hopefully more authors and stories. It benefits the fandom, and it benefits the 'ship.

JUST A REMINDER: lobbying in the award discussion threads does not count as an actual nomination. For it to be official, you must PM the title, author's name, and url of the story to the Expanse Awards account.

Can do? I think so! :cheering

Yes, indeed. There's some scattered drabbles, and there's Mistress Euclid's lovely Shakaik - The Director's Cut, which certainly deserves recognition.

It is interesting that there's almost no RU femslash. It all seems to take place in the anything-goes MU!

So....Aquarius and I have been discussing the lack of femslash again. We know for a fact we have some femslash readers, but very few writers. I\'ve got half a mind to hack something out myself on this front - and I want to lay down a challenge to all our writers to do so. We need some RU femslash. It doesn\'t necessarily have to be Hoshi/T\'Pol - there\'s other possibilities.

I wrote a femslash B-plot into Dusk, although it was more of a background thing between Hoshi and an OC. It was definitely not emphasized, just put there for flavor. Still, I think we need more.

And with our recent conversation about sexuality in Star Trek, this is also something to be mindful about in our own work. Sure, our OTP can be front and center, but what about other characters in the background? What are they doing? Who are they doing it with?

A couple of our writers have combined het and slash among the main characters as well, just not with the female characters. (Yet. ;) )
