A couple days late--my bad!

Most of you know how this works. If you don't, here goes: I pick a word or short phrase every month. You write an Enterprise story based on whatever that prompt inspires. You do not have to use the actual word or phrase in the story. Stories can be het, gen, or slash. Any style is welcome--humor, romance, mystery, action, etc. There are no minimum or maximum word lengths.

Write it. Have it betaed. Archive it.

Here's my entry for the prompt. Father/Son AU, pre-series. I hope it fits:

Jonathan looked down at the sleeping little boy in his arms, and smiled.

People told him he was crazy for even thinking about adopting Trip. Even his girlfriend Margaret had said as much. Adding his own doubts to the mix, he wondered if he was ready to be a parent. Only his father Henry had supported his decision.

Trip stirred, but remained asleep. Jon gently brushed aside a lock of his hair.

Before Trip, he had never given fatherhood much thought. But, for Jon, he had felt a connection with Trip from the first moment he laid eyes on him. His only other option would've been to let him go, to be raised by strangers and never see him again.

What kind of option was that?

I just love that, hummingbird. That is the first time you have suggested that Jon adopted Trip. I do hope you expand on how the two came together. These are so interesting!
