I finally got around to re-watching it. This episode was a little better than I remember, though certainly not one of my favorites. I think the teaser was my favorite part. I like your "Our Dinner with D'Marr" idea, Honeybee!
Liana reminded me of Kess, too. I liked her. She had the potential to be really annoying, but the actress did a pretty good job of making her seem sweet and innocent but not too saccharine. One thing that stuck out to me about Liana is that for a girl with literally no experience with men, she seemed to have a pretty easy time flirting with Trip. While I don't think Trip was head-over-heals for her, he certainly enjoyed the attention. Heck, he even admitted as much right to her. It makes me a little sad for him, knowing that he's not going to have an "easy" relationship like that with T'Pol.
One little thing that I really liked was the little knowing smile Billy gives Trip when Trip asks him to continue with Liana's tour but promises to meet her for lunch.
Another thing I liked was how the writers reminded us about the Xyrillians a couple of times. It was a nice little clue that could lead an observant viewer to realize they were holograms before the big reveal.
T'Pol's reaction to Liana was just...weird. The shipper in me is going

over what I can only see as jealousy, but the more logical part of says, "It's not logical for her to be jealous at this stage of their relationship."

The only thing that makes sense to me is that despite all odds, she'd actually developed a crush on Trip, though no doubt she would deny, deny, deny it, even to herself.
The thing that bugged me the most is that I didn't see why Liana and her father felt the need to maintain the lie. They could have just said, "We crash landed here. (Daddy could still lie about how it happened if he felt too guilty to share that part.) We like it here. These are our holographic friends. Now please help us fix our computers and go away."
