2011 Twitter Stories

Here's a heads-up for you folks that follow the Twitter-based stories:

We've got a whole slew of stuff planned, and the whole group is finally available to get started. Actual dates and teasers will be provided as we get closer to tweeting each story. For now, here's a list of tentative 'titles' to give you an idea of what's coming. (Except for the first one, all the titles are just placeholders for now.)

• Trapped! (RU) Porthos! TBD.
• Tox Uhtat (RU) Ensemble piece. TNG homage.
• Power Blocs (MU) Ensemble piece. TBD.

Here's a general summary for the year:

Archer's mission is to find military allies along the border with Romulan space, to ease up the pressure on Earth. Once again, Malcolm finds himself working for the Section because of a possible spy within the Coalition or Starfleet itself. The Vulcans are getting more directly involved, and Starfleet finds itself in temporary command of a half dozen Vulcan ships. The Boomers are joining Starfleet in greater numbers and Travis' family is scuttling the Horizon to join the Janus IV colony. With more than four scheduled diplomatic visits (First Contact) Hoshi's under pressure to make sure Archer can communicate his mission. And while Archer does the diplomatic thing, Trip finds himself in command of Enterprise more and more.

Meanwhile, in the Mirror Universe ... the early chaos of the new Empire seems to have settled. A few key allies have been secured and rebellions successful quashed. Unfortunately, Shran got away with some vital information on Defiant's strategic capabilities and will soon prove to be a persistent and growing threat to the Empire. T'Pol is recovering more slowly from her ordeal at the hands of the Viceroy than expected. Tucker is obsessed with revenge for his sister's murder, while Cutler finds herself in the middle of everything again with the multitude of secrets she's keeping. Sato and Reed find their power may be challenged not by individuals or organizations but by those much closer. Travis' family connections to the scattered fleets of pirate ships along the edge of the Empire may prove to be key to holding everything together.

Non-stories: These are just short (one afternoon or evening) planned scenes that don't fit with the larger planned out stories:

As always, there's the unplanned interactions and the occasional "break the fourth wall" moments.

Due to RL, the Twitterfiction group is moving the first planned story of the year to next week: February 14, 15 & 16.

Space Derby!
RU. Travis-centric story. Action!
Archer must convince a gregarious, competitive race, the Ka'vaal, to join the Coalition and use their formidable fleet to protect the border zone between Romulan space and Andoria. Long distance diplomatic overtures have proved fruitless but Shran mentioned a the possibility to make a good impression in person. Now Enterprise is in a hurry to get there in time.

Since the beginning of the year we've done four stories, three in the RU and one in the MU: "Home Again, Part 2", "Space Derby", "Terra Firma" and "The Qu'tesh". We also did "The Vulcan Conversation" - a single scene story between Hoshi and T'Pol, almost entirely in Vulcan. The translation of the Vulcan part of that conversation is up on our blog.

We've got two more stories coming up here shortly (this week or next, and then the following week). I'll put some teaser information up soon.

This all sounds pretty awesome. I'm definitely tuning in for the Ikaaren story, since we know that in the E2 timeline Archer developed an affinity for that species!

Great! The Ikaaren story was the next one up for the RU, but we've decided to stir things up a bit by moving one story up and doing it first, then resuming the First Contact missions.

We just finished up "The Interactive Effect" (MU) and we'll be taking a week break before starting the next RU story:

"Two Nights, Two Days, Too Much" (RU) April 26-29.

This one is based on a suggestion by a follower that we revisit an idea from The Next Generation: what happened to the Tox Uthat in the 22nd century. This will also be the one time that we involve a character from outside our ENT Twitterfic group, so if you're following this story, follow @MotTheBarber too!

The next RU story will resume Enterprise's diplomatic missions and visit the Ikaarans.

After a pow-wow with our guest character, we're going to start this one on Monday, May 2nd. It's a four day story, and we didn't want to start it tomorrow and then have to wait over the weekend to finish it.

The ENT Twitterfic group finished the Tox Uthat story a while back and the next up still is the Ikaaran one. However, the group is officially on "planned-story hiatus" for a while. We've all just got too much going on in RL to schedule times to be online together and to put the energy into planning out the stories right now. Everybody's still around and will be online to tweet on occasion (and maybe even interact as a group if we all happen to be on) but it's all going to be ad-libbed, or just a couple of characters, basic tweets, interaction with followers etc. until sometime in July. Sometime after that we'll resume the planned stories we've got lined up.

It still looks like it'll be mid July before the ENT Twitter group resumes our list of pre-planned stories. In the meantime, we will have one planned event: a farewell party for one of our RPers.

"Ladybug" has been with our Twitter group as @_TPol since February of 2009, later taking over the first version of the MU T'Pol (which switched hands three times) and then creating from scratch the current MU character @CmdrTPol. She has also played @AgentDaniels (and shared the duties when that account was used as "Echo One" (with attitude) for our one interactive story that had followers descrambling Echo One's messages for the NX01 crew.) She was responsible for much of the ideas behind, planning and success of our TnT-based stories and TnT moments, including the technically-complicated-to-plan-and-execute "Mirror TnT" scenes, as well as the entire Vulcan storyline of the Mirror Universe.

Ladybug has been an fantastic member of our group, a joy to brainstorm, plan, write and RP with, enthusiastic, patient, generous and funny. She and her husband are moving to a new place, a new job and quite possibly a lot of travel (which makes yours truly kinda jealous) at the end of June. We're excited for her but will also miss her terribly. One of the existing players in the group will take over her characters, and we hope to keep the best of what she's developed going strong.

But before she goes ... PARTAY!! We haven't yet discussed as a group how to do this, and whether the party will be out-of-character and in a chat room or actually on Twitter and in-character (or both) but I wanted to post something now and get a feel for when our followers might best be able to attend, before the end of June, so we can pick the best date/time.
