My dear friend from Livejournal and Enterprise fandom, Aeteananke passed away this morning. I'm pretty devastated.
This was so fast. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor in mid-August, out of the blue. We hadn't heard anything for a few weeks, but she was unable to view the computer for very long due to her illness, so we kept hoping that not hearing anything meant she was getting better. Only last night we learned she was much worse, and then that they were giving her a week. Now she's gone.
AA, as we called her, was there at the very beginning of our TrekSoap escapade, playing a Voyager character who found herself -- and others from Voyager -- on the NX-01. Linnis Paris, Tom Paris... eventually Harry Kim and others... all became vital members of our crew, and all played by her. Linnis' daughter Renara (don't ask... it was all my fault) became as close to Jon as his own child, and Linnis patiently walked Jon through his own single-parenthood while Malcolm was off in our version of the MUniverse. They shared a kiss while decorating the mess hall for Christmas. The entire Voyager line of TS socks saved the ship from destruction at the hands of Mallos. And the Borg almost ended things for Renara and her best friend, Henry Reed.
After life got in the way for most of us, she continued developing a Voyager storyline at TS, posting by herself for the last few years. I kept hoping we'd maybe come back to start up again... I think this may be the appropriate time to close things up.
AA was only 27 years old. I'm 47, and knowing her for seven years I feel as if she could be my own child. We used to talk every day for hours in our group chat. She wrote beautifully... she has 68 stories over on FF.net, including a few Enterprise.
Fandom is wonderful. At times like this, it's almost too painful to bear.
She will be missed.
Her ff.net stories are here, and the thread I most remember with Jon and Linnis is here.
