General Trek Book Discussion

From the Relaunch series to the Glass Empire stories, talk about Enterprise profic here.

True enough, but as we said in another thread, the relaunch books are special. It's an event when they come out, and that's good. I would prefer that one come out every year, as opposed to every other year, though.

I'd also like to see a Malcolm story as part of the Section 31 series and more stories in the short story books. I wouldn't object to a full on Glass Empires novel either.

What is the difference between a Mass Market Paperback and the one that's already out?

Generally, it's the quality of the binding and paper and size. They charge more for a nicer book.

I actually got The Romulan War on my kindle ap, so I don't know what the differences were. Anyone?

I've got it as a large book, the first version, not the mass market paperback.

The Mass Market Paperback doesn't have a Cover Yet. I don't think.

I haven't seen it, but that would be my guess. I got the Romulan War when it first came out (no time to read it yet, though--d'oh!!), and it's about the dimensions of a hardcover book, just with the soft cover. My guess is that the "mass market" version will be more the dimensions of the paperback books like The Good That Men Do, but will end up thicker. It'll cost more than the other paperbacks, but less than the original incarnation because the paper won't be as nice, etc.

Trade paperbacks are the new version of the hardcovers Pocket books used to release for special books like Spock's world or Imzadi. They're of better quality paper and Ink than the regular paperbacks. Also less expensive then a hardback. The problem with the thick smaller paperbacks the paper quality isn't as good quality and the ink isn't either. The ink can smear and come off on your hands. Some of the books I've read have the pages in the middle of the have started to become lose enough an to fall out of the books I bought. I prefer better quality books than the publishers cutting corners and having brand new books starting to fall apart after spending eight dollars for a brand new book. The reason they're reprinting the first Romulan war novel is because it sold well and fans wanted a less expensive book. Also the fact the fans who wantewd to but the older novels have a hard time finding used copies of the novels at an affordable price. Last Full measure is one book other fans have a hard time finding at an affordable. Someone recently on Amazon was selling a used copy for $152.00 dollars that's a ripoff!
