I've been away from The Delphic Expanse for about 2 1/2 years. In 2014, I had just finished a massive challenge story (The Gilded Cage) which was fun but had burned me out on writing since I had done a lot of writing leading up to it. I also started a part-time job that I still hold and is physically demanding. (I'm pushing 60 but I can run rings around some of my college-age coworkers.
) Unfortunately, between family life and the job, I had no energy or inclination to write for quite some time.Quick family update -- I was diagnosed "pre-diabetic" last year but diet, exercise (losing 30 pounds), and medication have it under control and possibly gone; hubby is retiring in a month; son graduated with master's degree last December but is now back home while job hunting; daughter moved out, graduated with a BA in Fine Arts, and has come out as transgender and is healthy and happy; we lost one of our cats to old age; and sold my sports car that I had for 26 years so hubby could get a (gasp) pickup truck. So, it's been an eventful 2 1/2 years.
I've really missed being a participating member of TDE, and would think about you guys often.
I'm hoping to make time in the future to write some more and take part in some of the discussions and events here.
