Netflix to get a new Star Trek Series?

Postby Frakme » Tue Jun 10, 2014 1:20 pm

Personally I am rather sceptical... the article doesn't fill me with confidence especially as they got the number of ENT seasons wrong! However Netflix have commissioned series, so you never know!

Here

This debunks the rumour

If Netflix did do such a thing, what would you like to see? Would you prefer something in the original universe or the Abrams one?
When would you set it?

There was talk of a Starfleet Academy series at one time, that would be cool, 24th century so lots of aliens in it.
What I wouldn't give to have an Episode of Enterprise where Trip somehow manages to loses his uniform and gets covered in Nutella.

Aeryn: And you say you want to go back to that place of pain and suffering!
John: Well you guys don't have chocolate!

If there ever was such a thing, I'd really like to see something we haven't seen before. Something that was focused on a popular alien species of the franchise, like Vulcans, Klingons or Andorians.

For example, perhaps a series that's entirely Vulcan, with the majority of the characters being Vulcan, the setting itself being the planet Vulcan. It could center around the Vulcan Science Directorate or the Vulcan High Command. Perhaps there would be one human character to give a different (and audience) perspective on things. The time frame might start at pre-Earth-contact and then continue on from immediately after that. A major character might be Spock's great-grandfather, Solkar, the first ambassador to Earth.

Personally, I'd move the time frame up so that it was primarily about the Vulcan Embassy on Earth in San Francisco, either during or immediataly after the Romulan War. It could involve Skon - Spock's grandfather - and in that timeframe Sarek would be born. There could be fallout from the Romulan War, spies and intrigue involving the Vulcan High Command. But moreover, that'd sneakily put it right into Enterprise's time-frame so, if we never get a fifth season or movie of Enterprise, we might still get an NX-01 character as a guest from time-to-time.

Someone just sign me up to help get this started…

Yeah, a Vulcancentric series would be awesome, I'd be on board for that!

I would like to see an anthology series, with each episode taking place in the Trek verse. Some of the most beloved episodes of the whole franchise - like The Visitor - center on a one off character. Then there was Yesterday's Enterprise or the MU episode of Enterprise or something like Carbon Creek. They could hire great writers.

I wouldn't mind seeing a regular narrative series, but an anthology series would be great.

Yeah... the possibilities would be endless!
