Pimp your other stuff!

Postby Aquarius » Sat Feb 22, 2014 1:40 am

So, about a week ago, my Muse started speaking to me again. Unfortunately, she was not speaking the language of Trek. I was anxious to share, but didn't really have anyone to share it with, which brought Honeybee and I back to a discussion we'd been revisiting off and on for years: what to do for our authors who dabble in more than one fandom. A thread in which one could self-promote non-Enterprise works makes a certain amount of sense.

Please understand that I am painfully self-conscious of how self-serving this appears, so know that I am posting this with the hope that the rest of you will populate the thread with your own works as well. Though your stories will be housed elsewhere and according to different rules, please remember to observe DE conventions in terms of noting title, fandom, het/slash/gen, pairing (if applicable), age-appropriate rating, and any other warnings about things that may get people upset if they stumble on it unwittingly.

Thank you, and enjoy.

So I double-posted in an effort to keep the guidelines from getting too buried. As I mentioned, I finally wrote something, "Gomez and the Sweet Hereafter." PG, het, Gomez and Morticia Addams. WARNING: mature themes (suicide, character death).

Depending on your account/viewing preferences:

Gomez and the Sweet Hereafter at An Archive of Our Own

Gomez and the Sweet Hereafter at FanFiction.net

Thank you for your kind indulgence. Now please pimp away.

This is a great idea! We all love Enterprise, but there are enough of us who write other works as well. Some is probably other Trek, and for sure some is other fandoms as well. Will be posting stuff later.

I don't write in other fandoms, but I do write wholly original stuff. Is that cool here (with the usual warnings, genre descriptions, etc.)?

Just fixed that first link. Excellent story, btw!

BTW a great idea... maybe I'll start writing BSG fiction again.
In case I don't here's a couple I prepared earlier ;)
Adama's Lament
Lee and Kara's Happy Ending
What I wouldn't give to have an Episode of Enterprise where Trip somehow manages to loses his uniform and gets covered in Nutella.

Aeryn: And you say you want to go back to that place of pain and suffering!
John: Well you guys don't have chocolate!

Sorry about that goofed up first link at AAOO. I just took a look at the code - I think my finger hiccupped when I did the copy/paste because the url was in there twice. That'll cause problems! Any way, it should work now.

Here are a couple of my Sherlock Holmes pieces. They'd be a series if I could figure out a middle story I liked.

Into the Abyss. At 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912, RMS Titanic slides below the waves leaving a battered violin afloat in the debris field. The violinist is nowhere to be found. And yet, hasn't he been this way before? General/character death/no ship (if you'll pardon the expression). ;)

The Triumph of Sentiment. When his Quartermaster pays over 1 million pounds sterling for a battered violin that can neither be repaired nor played, James Bond wants to know why. General/no death/no ship.

These are both on AO3, although they're on ff.net, too.

Here's my newest fic, a Hobbit story featuring Bilbo Baggins and Hamfast Gamgee. It's my first foray into Tolkien fandom for writing, beta'd by the same lovely woman who beta's my Star Trek AOS fanfiction.

Adventuring Pg, slash, Bilbo Baggin and Hamfast Gamgee.

I really like this idea, and I hope more people will take advantage of it. I'd like to see what other fandoms people here are interested in, and it's sometimes hard to find you all because your aliases differ from site to site or I'm not involved with or even aware of the site you're on. I probably wouldn't have found Aquarius' Addams Family story if she hadn't mentioned it here. It's rather bittersweet, but very good. I'd forgotten how much I liked Morticia and Gomez together.

Here's a story from Law and Order: SVU: Everyday Terror. General/character study/9-11 time frame/no ship.

George Huang is a more than capable psychiatrist, a talented profiler and an FBI agent, just the sort of person needed to fight the War on Terror. So why is he still assigned to the 16th Precinct and the SVU?

I really enjoyed watching B. D. Wong in this role and was very disappointed when he left the show. This is my poor attempt at showing appreciation.
