Outlander

So, I just found out they are in pre-production for a movie based on the 1990s time travel romance novel Outlander (which I love and still love). And it's being adapted by Ron Moore of DS9 and the BSG reboot.

This could be epic. They've cast Jaimie already, but who should play Claire?

Natalie Dormer from Game of Thrones would be an excellent Claire. I only say that because I've seen her dressed down in interviews and she can look very fresh-faced and not so sex-kitten. Also, she's the perfect age.

Ohhh, I love the idea of Natalie Dormer as Claire. I'm very pleased with the casting for Jamie (as is Diana herself, apparently).

Fun fact: I love the book series so much that when my son was born, he was named Jamie. (Though Hubs talked me out of James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie.)

I think Katie McGrath who was Morgana on Merlin could do it, but I don't think she's free. She's got the female lead on JRM's new Dracula series.

Jessica Brown Findlay could also do it, who played Lady Sybil on Downton Abbey!

But who should play Claire's first husband/Black Jack? Maybe Aiden Gillen who plays Littlefinger on GoT?

Perhaps Ron Moore will go with some BSG alum for casting, such as James Callis for Black Jack.

Callis would make an excellent Black Jack.

Tricia Helfer would do great as Gellis.

I have no idea who should be Dougal, though.

Another good choice for Claire would be Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey, but they would have to work around her schedule.

Emilia Clark without her blond wig could do it, and since she only has a handful of scenes in every episode of GoT, she could probably work out a way to do it.

Official casting news:

Tobias Menzies cast as Frank/Black Jack Randall.

As soon as I showed Hubs Tobias's picture, he knew who he was cast as before I even told him. Good choice.
