Boston, you're my home

If you have not heard yet, there were 2 explosions at the end of the Boston Marathon today. 3 dead, 28 wounded, some horribly and permanently.

Very frightening here.

Jespah, are you and yours okay?

Terrible. My parents are from Boston, and it's sad for me because my grandfather was always in the stands for the marathon. I used to watch the half way point when I was in college.

We are okay, thanks - and I think I just heard my husband come in. It is ... unreal.

Boston, in many ways, is like a small town, and even all of New England can feel that way. I am at 2nd to 3rd degrees of separation from Martin Richard (the 8 year old who died) and a couple of gravely injured victims. That is, friends of friends.

These feel like harsh days, as 8 year old children and 29 year old women die senselessly.

Prayers to all affected by this senseless tragedy.
TRIP: Hold on. You never said anything about feet.
T'POL: Is that a problem?
TRIP: Well, for one thing, I haven't had a shower since this morning, and I know how sensitive that Vulcan nose of your can be.And I'm a little ticklish.Maybe more than a little.

This has been a hard week. I've got some close friends in the Boston area, at least one of which is an avid runner. After a few frantic emails, I'm relieved to say they are all okay, but my heart goes out to those who are not.
