London Photos

Postby Archerite » Thu Oct 25, 2012 2:56 pm

As some of you already know, I went to Destination Star Trek London last week. I arrived on Thursday and managed to snap some nice shots around the city that evening. My hotel was within walking distance of Buckingham and Westminster, so I treated myself to a night walk through the heart of London. It sure is beautiful! Definitely my favorite city in Europe. ;)

Here are some pics, more to come.

Those are some beautiful photos, Archerite! I'm so glad you love my city, she is supremely likeable, not to mention photogenic.

I have to say I also love my camera. These were taken with no flash and no tripod. And they came out pretty good.

Those are fantastic Archerite! You've got a good eye for composition too; I especially like the photo with the police boxes because of that.

The one of the Millenium Wheel with all the blue is gorgeous. (I'm rather partial to that shade of blue.)

Oh! The one with the Eye is beautiful, and I love the way you snapped the red phone boxes. It's always lovely to see the Houses of Parliament shining by the gleaming Thames, too. Gorgeous!

So neat! And such a surprise to see, too, since public pay phones have largely disappeared in my part of the States. It's assumed that almost everyone has a cell phone.

I love how this photo makes it look like there is nothing holding up that giant Ferris wheel. There's the pilon in back, but it doesn't look like it's actually attached to it. And such a gorgeous shade of blue! I need to look into the size of the Eye and of the original Ferris wheel from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. My understanding is that the gondolas on the original were the size of a city bus! Not exactly what you'd expect when you're used to the carnival ride size. :)
