Missing story

Postby paulinem » Sun Oct 21, 2012 6:55 pm

Hi ladies!

I went to go and add the disclaimer to a story I posted yesterday (cos I forgot), but it seems to have disappeared! Any thoughts? Oh, I also sent an email from the archive, but I don't know if you received it!

Thank you!

If we haven't validated the story yet (as in made it live) you may not be able to see it. Let me check...

ETA: Pauline, I have no idea what happened. I don't see a story from you waiting to be validated. Can you try re-submitting?

Sorry for the inconvenience.

It seems to have gone up okay now. This is purely a guess, but I have an idea about what might've happened. Remember all those DNS errors we were getting, and the SQL errors before that? Well, the site's been running smooth like butter tonight, so I'm betting those DNS errors were occurring because they took down the errant server to work on it. The times we got on, the requests were sent to other servers, not the broken one -- much like how hitting refresh helped when we got the SQL errors.

Any way, I'm betting your story got uploaded on the bad server and was lost in the takedown/repair process.

I could be totally wrong about how this works, but it seems to fit the timing and the behavior of the site.

At any rate, it's up now.
