Every time we pass the exit sign to Siler City, I think of how often it was mentioned on the show. It will take on a whole new meaning now. RIP Andy.

He was very talented. RIP.

He truly was. And what always impressed me, when he did have a villainous role, was that I was always so startled by it. He played the evil parts well, but when you juxtapose it against his down-home, sensible Andy Taylor persona, it was quite jarring -- and effective.

I always enjoyed Mr. Griffith as "Matlock", the high-powered attorney from Atlanta. He was a mature Southern gentleman who could also be a folksy good old boy, but he was also smart as a whip and could show a bit of temper. He was family oriented. He could be tough on subordinates, but cared about them. Kind of sounds like who Trip would have been if he'd gone into law instead of engineering and lived to a good age.

Boy, the more I think about it, the more I wish my oldies TV would pick up that series!
