The Most Unconvincing Romances in SciFi History

Io9 mentions Chakotay/Seven and says Chakotay/Janeway and Janeway/Seven had more chemistry:

edited to clarify that Chakotay/Janeway were not actually on the list. :facepalm My bad!

Gotta admit, I agreed with their observations on the Ginny Weasly and Harry Potter one. (Though I liked that one better after the movie - to which I attribute the actor's fine skills more than the book.)

And here I was about to get all het up because I thought you meant that they'd put Janeway/Chakotay on the list. :)

I have to agree about the Trek couple they did pick and about Saul Tigh/Caprica 6 from BSG. Both of those examples were true "WTF" moments for me. They both came out of absolutely nowhere.

I always shipped Luna/Harry in the Harry Potter books, and I thought Ginny was just a shallow, popular girl who was there basically to be Harry's girlfriend. But Luna was an interesting character all on her own.

I sure got people to read, didn't I? I think I may have upset more people with that than my April Fool's post.

I definitely agree with Chakotay/Seven and Anakin/Padme'. Although, I would've added Worf/Troi to that list as well (no offense intended).

I'll second that. I always thought that was some kind of holodeck malfunction. :? Don't get me wrong. I like Worf and I like Troi, just not together.

(No offense to anyone who likes these pairings.)

I could see Worf and Troi together, but just barely. The first time it appeared on screen I was "WTF?" because it seemed so unexpected. However, I could see how Worf's son could be the common factor for them -- Worf not sure of his parenting skills and Troi being there to help both of them.

Chakotay and Seven ... I didn't care for it, but I wondered if it came about because Chakotay had gotten tired of waiting for Janeway. I also wondered why Janeway had to be so noble and above everything, simply because she was the captain. I mean, the man made a bathtub for her when they thought they were stuck forever together alone on a planet!

And Anakin and Padme'? For some reason, I was always thinking about their age difference in the later movies, which I found very distracting. Not that there's anything wrong with a December-May romance, but she must have had very good genes not to age at all.
Old enough to know better, but that's never stopped me before.

I wasn't a fan of the Worf &Troi relationsip .I thought Alexander was an annoying kid I didn't like the character all that much. I didn't care to see them together romantically I'm a Riker/Troi fan..I didn't see any chemistry for Seven or Chakotay Romantic realationship. It seemed forced to me I didn't care forthat relationship on voyager either. She and the doctor had more chemistry than she ever did with Chakotay.
