PROPER STORY FORMATTING

Postby Aquarius » Wed Dec 21, 2011 2:02 pm

I realize that the document on this is a little unclear and somewhat buried, so that's why I'm posting this here until we have time to do something about that.

Most of you do a pretty good job on formatting your stories when you upload them, and that's awesome, because it makes our job so much easier when we go to validate them for public consumption! :bolian

Just as a refresher for the people who may have forgotten, and maybe a first-time run-through for new folks, please make sure to do the following when you upload your stories:

1. Your disclaimer goes in the STORY NOTES box. This way, people will see it along with all the other vital statistics when they click on the title (genre, rating, warnings, etc.) All of this is information one should see before being taken to the text of the story.

2. That said...please remove any redundant information from the body of your story. This would include anything you had to fill out prior to pasting in the text of your story: title, rating, pairing, disclaimer, notes, etc. Only the text of the story itself should be there.

Following these guidelines assures that we get a consistent look throughout the site, no matter whose story a visitor clicks on. We'll try to help you out where we can, but as I've said, it's easier for us and your story goes up quicker if this stuff's all set for us when we get there. If we get busy of if we find ourselves always fixing the same things for the same people, you may get a friendly PM asking you to go back and fix it before we validate. ;)

Thanks in advance for your cooperation. 8-)

Ohhh, crap! :doh I forgot to put my disclaimer on for Opacity! Thank you to whoever fixed it (I think it might have been Honeybee)!

Thanks for the reminder, Aquarius.
