Here's where we'll post challenges, word prompts, round robins and other fun stuff.

DECEMBER '11 WORD PROMPT! :-)

Postby Aquarius » Thu Dec 01, 2011 10:51 pm

Most of you know how this works, but I'll recap for the new folks.

Every month, I give you a prompt consisting of a word or short phrase. Your job is to write an Enterprise story inspired by that prompt. It can be any genre (gen, slash, het), any style (drama, romance, mystery, action, humor, etc.), any length. You do not have to use the word or phrase in the story.

Get it beta read, and then submit it to our archive.

This month's prompt, should you choose to accept the assignment, is...

HAIRCUT

Now get out of here and go write something.

I don't know if Pippin is even registered on the forum - but here's a response to this challenge in the archive:

What with the other projects I've been trying to work on this month, I hadn't really planned to respond to this prompt. But my muse, apparently, has other ideas. Here's a little Reed/Sato drabble for you...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
DISHEVELED

“Ensign, your hair is disheveled again.”

Reaching up, Hoshi discovered she’d pulled a chunk of hair loose from her ponytail. She hadn’t even realized that she’d been playing with it. This was becoming a bad habit.

“I’m sorry, sir,” she said, standing up and moving toward the head so she could fix it. “I’ll be right back.”

“Good,” Malcolm answered.

“What I really ought to do,” she muttered to herself, “is cut it. That would make it easier to handle.”

“Please don’t,” he said, startling her. “It’s so pretty, long like that.”

She turned to look back at him. “Really?”

That was awesome, lfvoy! I love the little dynamic you've got going on between them there.

I love this! I can completely hear their voices and see their mannerisms throughout this one, just as if it was an episode. Well done!
