Happy Thanksgiving!

:hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs

I may not have everything I want, but I am thankful that I do have everything I need.

(Now, time to get that turkey in the oven! I realized the other day that I have fixed a turkey every Thanksgiving for the last 30 years or so, except for maybe one or two Thanksgivings. Wow!)

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all! I wish you entertaining football and way too much good food. 8-)

I got the turkey in the oven at 6:45am and made my first-ever homemade apple pie, I hope it's edible :?

Our Thanksgiving went well, except for one thing, which really is minor. We never carve the turkey at the table. We do that in the kitchen. I fix the turkey in a roasting bag, which sits in a foil pan, which sits on top of a baking sheet (to support the foil pan) in the oven. Normally, when the turkey is done, I take it out of that and put it on a platter for carving. This year, hubby says he thought he could just carve it in the pan sitting on the stovetop and place the meat on the platter. What the heck, I thought. If he thinks it's easier that way. So I told him, "Be careful. Don't cut into the foil pan." I turn my back for one moment while he's carving and he cuts into the foil pan. Accidentally, of course. But all the juices that had cooked out of the turkey ran all over the stovetop. Considering there was a good inch and a half of juice in the pan, it was quite the mess to clean up.

Next year, we're going back to the old way of doing it.

How did the pie turn out?

Sorry, a day late, but Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate.

Dang, Kathy Rose, would you have used those juices for making a gravy?

No, thank goodness. I have never mastered gravy-making, so I had plenty of store-bought gravy on hand. :)
