Okay. I'm a little confused, because I thought that's what you and Middleman were volunteering to do, but you guys were doing a little fact-finding first.

No, no, you're right - we did. And I'm still definitely willing to do that, but the enthusiasm is there now to do this and I'd hate to lose that momentum while everyone waits on us, especially as the new book is coming out. I just don't have any real facts yet (and I've let that task slip quit a bit  ) and I don't know if Middleman has anything either.

The best I can do right now - as far as organizing us - is posting an address to write to, mocking-up an example letter for those who don't know what to say and then encouraging everyone to spread the word to other ENT fans. It's not much, really. But if that's enough, then I'll do it asap.

Count me in. And I am great at editing letters, having done many such for students and peers, in case you need some assistance.

T'POL: Is that a problem?
TRIP: Well, for one thing, I haven't had a shower since this morning, and I know how sensitive that Vulcan nose of your can be.And I'm a little ticklish.Maybe more than a little.

A friend of mine who used to know some of the people that worked at Pocket books has recently told me that the new people in charge don't really seem to care about promoting the Startrek books all that much anymore..That's what they told me anyway.I think the TPTB needs to know we want to see the Enterprise novels continue instead of endless TNG era books coming out.Let them know we want other types of novels to be written and published that there are fans who want to see Enterprise and the oter series of books continue as well.

If the publishers have Twitter or Facebook presences, we can mobilize there, too.

Alright, I'm just waiting for Middleman to get a chance to weigh in here and if all is good, I'll get us started on this.

Tish, yes, I'd love your help in drafting up a couple of mock letters. In the meantime I'll gather all the addresses, names and official Twitter accounts I know of and post 'em here. Reanok? Could you PM me the Twitter accounts you know of and I'll get it all sorted out into a nice list?

And here's a thought: how about having a Delphic Expanse community message about our desire and support for more Enterprise pro-fic? I.e. something that we can point to - sort of like a web page - when we tweet or post to other forums?

I'm all for it. We can talk in a day or two about the best way to do that.

ENTAllan how soon are you going to post the information you and Middleman found about what's going on with Pockect books and posting an address so we can write letters to them before the next Enterprise novel comes out in a few weeks.

Okay, I PMed Middleman a while ago and haven't heard anything but I'd like to get this going.

October 25th is when the new book comes out. Why don't we make that our target date to be ready with a campaign for more ENT books? Here's what I think we should do:

By the 24th we should:
1) Draft a sample letter that we can post here for people to use or guide them to writing their own. Tish volunteered to help me with that.
2) I'll post the addresses and people to send the letters to.
3) Create a page here on the forum that's publicly readable that makes a Delphic Expanse statement about our support for more Enterprise pro-fic.
4) I'll post the @twitter accounts we can tweet to, and a couple of sample re-tweetable statements.

And by the 25th we should start tweeting and sending letters in the mail.

Reanok - just scroll back in this thread a few days and you'll see what I already posted about that.

Any other ideas? What do you all think of creating a workshop for people who'd like some help with drafting a non-form-letter letter? Think we need it? What about contacting the existing Enterprise pro-fic authors and getting a few statements about how they'd love to write more for this audience of Trek? There's what, six or seven of them?

The #startrekenterprise hashtag was so successful for the anniversary, that I'm thinking we should use it for this effort too, and maybe copy tweets that people say about the support for more books and post them to the statement thread?
