You Should Totally Read…(Fiction)

So, here's a thread for book recommendations of the fictional kind!

I'll kick it off with a nod to Mistress Euclid's suggestion in the Twilight thread:

Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca. It's a great modern Gothic romance that plays on the whole "dangerous hero" thing but in a good way.

If anyone remembers Yesterday's Son and Time for Yesterday from the original series books, you know who A.C. Crispin is. Wayyyy back in high school (yes I'm old enough to say that), she released an original YA-ish series called StarBridge. I was an immediate fan and read my books until they fell apart. Has anyone else here read them?

If not, well, they're out as eBooks now. And you should totally give them a look-see. Check it out. No, I'm not getting anything for this...the books are just that good. I've already grabbed the first one (the second one should be out for Kindle in a couple days) and re-reading it was one of the coolest things I've been able to do in the last week or so.

I knew about them, since I was a fan of A.C.'s Star Trek books (Yesterday's Son and Time for Yesterday were my favorites - I even got Yesterday's Son autographed) but I've never read them.

Thanks! I'll check 'em out.

If anyone's got other book recommendations, I'm all ears. I'd like to amass a reading list for the start of next year.

Since it is currently Christmastime, the best science fiction crossover with Christmas ever: Arthur C. Clarke's short story The Star . A good adaptation of this for Star Trek, particularly Enterprise, would have been awesome!

If you have never read Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, it is definitely worth the read. I have read it no less than three times (the entire seven book series), and I pick up something new out of it every time I read it.
