The Gene Rodenberry IDIC Award

When Aquarius and I decided to hand out awards to our members for their great, creative work, we also decided to give a special admin-selected award to the member that most embodies the IDIC spirit of the TDE.

When we started this place a year ago, we didn't know if there would be any interest in a fan site for a ten year old show beyond just a few people we knew, especially one that set out to be troll and flame free, in addition to being omni-sexual, omni-pairing and just generally welcoming. We really didn't know if het writers and slash writers and even moresome writers would be able to get along and thrive in a community. We even started on a crummy freebie forum because we had no confidence.

Yet, early on, one member encouraged us not only with words but by example. Through her stories and especially her amazing artwork, BLUETIGER has come to embody the IDIC spirit of this place. Her creative openness has prompted her to create artwork inspired by general, het, slash and moresome stories - with multiple different pairings. She goes where her muse takes her, and it's always beautiful!

So, thank you for being a part of this site, Bluetiger. You're more than a member. You're family!

Everyone can gush now!

And here's the special avatar designed by Misplaced that represents this award:

I don't have a lot to add to what Honeybee said, except to say that it's been an honor and a privilege to have you in the family. Your constant beautification of our threads with your artwork and your openness to experiment with different 'ships and techniques is exactly what we're about here.

I'm so very pleased to present you with this avatar. It's not nearly the recognition you deserve.

:hugs

And on a purely personal note, I want to thank you for the picture of T'Pol in Tudor-era dress which you did for my history story:

^ More proof of how deserving Bluetiger is! She doesn't just cross 'ships, she crosses time, too!

I don't know what to say. I am humbled and honored by this recognition. All of you here at The Delphic Expanse have been so supportive and kind to me over the last year.

This place is an oasis for those of us that want to celebrate this wonderful show in the infinite and varied ways that true fans are capable of. The freedom to ship as you choose and have no fear of reprisal, to my knowledge, exists only here. Aquarius, Honeybee, and Mistress Euclid deserve all our thanks for this.

And here I was thinking that I was boring everyone with all my scribbling. I am deeply touched and wish to thank the admins for this great honor and my dear Misplaced for the wonderful avatar. I shall wear it proudly.
