Last night, Entallat helped us reinstall the entire forum, which should clear out some of the problems and issues! Everyone cross your fingers.

Even though we installed an updated version - our host seems to be still having issues - and we're having them too! We're working.

Entallat, thank you so much for all your help with this craziness!

Hey, you're welcome. I don't mind at all. Unfortunately, last night's fix was unrelated to the mySQL errors we keep having, so we're not in the clear yet.

Just so all our members know:

Right now we're stuck in a frustrating situation that we can't do much about. The forum, the archive, the upcoming gallery, our website ... everything is hosted by Yahoo.com. We maintain the forum, the archive, etc. but Yahoo provides a managed hosting environment that's necessary to get those all up and running.

Unfortunately Yahoo's own hardware seems to be having some serious problems. When it barfs, or when one of their servers go down, we're affected. Lately the aftermath has been pretty significant, and we're doing the best we can to clean up after Yahoo ralphs all over our floor.

Last night's forum oops was unrelated to all that, so it was actually relatively easy to fix. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean we won't keep seeing some occasional problems. Just stay tuned to the @delphicexpanse Twitter feed (via Twitter, or via the web page if you're not on Twitter) for info if it's down for an extended length of time.

That is ... if Twitter doesn't Fail Whale. :doh Gotta love technology, cause you can't slap it upside the head until we're all ruled by robots.

Well, if it is a matter of being patient or not having the Expanse at all...I'll be very patient. Thanks for all your hard work.

What Bluetiger said! *thumbs up*

Thanks for your continued hard work, I know it's been a frustrating time, but remember we're not going anywhere. Just wish there was something I could do to help but I know absolutely nothing about codes! So...

BIG :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs to you all!

Is there any detailled information about the hardware barfs? Since the hosted environment is most likely one of the Linux Enterprise Servers or a Solaris cluster, freqent hiccups maybe related to trouble in the backbone or with the servers configuration. Nothing makes a server empty the contents of its stomach quicker than a changed router/gateway adress or a space shortage in /tmp or any other partition of the file system. Especially MySQL is very prone to crashes, if space on /tmp or /var runs out.

What kind of hosted env do you use. Are you renting a part of a server or do you have a dedicated root server? In the latter case you should be able to track down possible problems with a look into the syslog, errlog or dmsg.

Yes. You will continue to get errors every so often until Yahoo fixes their stuff.

In the meantime, we're working on other solutions.
