If you've got any suggestions for the archive, let us know here! We'll make adjustments when we can!

I know this is hardly a big deal in the overall scheme of things, but the word-counter seems to be pretty inaccurate. By both hand-counting and in Word, I get 100 words for a recent drabble, but it's coming up with 95, which seems pretty far off. Perhaps the next version of the software will have a better word counter. :D

I don't really expect a solution, but figured if perhaps you were tracking it, I'd at least mention what i"m seeing.

Yeah, we're aware of it. That's why Honeybee is giving a 5-word leeway either direction in the rules for the Delphies.

The problem is, it's not just our software. Word counters in different word processing programs and word counting websites have different criteria for what a "word" is. For some, it's any string of characters that occurs between two spaces, regardless of how long. Others define a word as five characters, just like the old days when we learned to type on typewriters. Some will count hyphenated word as one, some will count it as two.

So as nice as it would be to have the archive match up to what we've got going on at home (and believe me, Honeybee will tell you I've bemoaned this often), it just won't happen unless all the word processors and websites become standardized.

Sorry.
