Buffy Reboot

My reaction? Oh, f*ck me...

Yes, I know the TV show was a reboot of the original movie...but the show was much better, it was more what Joss Whedon wanted the film to be. To me, there's only one Buffy...and only one Spike.

I can't help but feel that they're doing this just to pander to the TwiHards.

Word. The film rights are still owned by the original producers of the sub-par film, and Joss has always resented having to pay them money from his TV show since they really made a bad film from his good premise.

While Joss Whedon is alive, he's the only one who should touch Buffy. Period.

Plus, Buffy is the opposite of Bella. She's fierce. She doesn't need a man, though she wants one. (Different). She's pro-active. She's the hero.

Plus, Joss knew that Buffy/Angel worked because, as he put it "There's no happily ever after with a vampire."

That's why both Buffy/Angel and Buffy/Spike worked so well - it was truly star-crossed.

Best tee-shirt I ever saw:

"...And Buffy staked Edward. The End."

My colleague has that t-shirt and wears it.

The film also cannot have any of the original television characters. No Giles. No Angel. No Spike. No. Drusilla. No Willow. No Xander. No Cordelia.

How is this Buffy?

Screw that.

I'm only in if there's Connor.

(Heeeeeeeeeeey..... )

I feel a flash mob coming on...

Do they not have the rights to the characters? I was never really sure who owned what when it came to Buffy. I personally hope that they don't own the rights to those characters. They may be able to violate the character of Buffy but at least the other characters will be safe. ;)

I think that the ones that were in the show were Joss's, and not part of the movie deal.

So if anyone wants to do a reboot through the original movie company, they have the rights to Buffy herself and anything that was in that movie; the others were brand new creations Joss made just for the show.

I say all the better... but if one vampire so much as sparkles, I'm joining the mob to demand the heads of the guilty!

Honestly? I can't see loyal fans of the show supporting this at all. Recasts of the characters they knew and loved? MAYBE. But not a complete reinvention. If it ain't Joss, they're gonna give it the finger. Just watch.

Meh. I'll steer clear. Thought the actual show kind of lost its way after the Glory storyline (JMHO, of course.) But the idea of them rebooting it without his permission? What a bunch of jackasses. No wonder I barely watch television anymore.

Plus? I've got "The Walking Dead" on AMC to watch. What an awesome show...
