The "Rec Me a Fic" Game
So, I had this idea, and Aquarius said this was the best forum to put it in, so here goes.
Let's spread a little love around for all the awesome ENT fics out there. But instead of making big lists or anything, I thought we could go by theme.
Here's how it works:
The first person (me!) comes in saying, for instance, "rec me a TnT fic."
The next person to post (let's call them Alpha) replies with a rec and (optionally) a few words on why it's recworthy. For example: "'This Is A Fic Title' by 'Author' is one of the best Trip/T'Pol fics out there. It's been one of my favorites since 2006." Alpha then, in the same post, requests a rec of their own. For instance: "Rec me a fic with Andorians in it."
Beta then posts with a link to "My Super Shiny Andorian Fic," and requests something fluffy.
And so on. The requests can be for a relationship, character, genre, species, cliche, mood, setting, length, rating, or anything else you might think of. And the links can go to any site, not just TDE.
A few groundrules:
-Enterprise fics only (though crossovers including ENT are cool). I may start up a panfandom version of this if it takes off.
-Keep the themes simple. "Rec me a Trip/Malcolm fic with explosions and cookies, but please no other pairings or angst" is a little too complex to make this fun.
-Keep the themes broad. "Rec me a fic where the crew are all secretly unicorns" is probably not going to have any responses.
-No self-recs. Yes, your fic is awesome. It really is. But the point of this is to highlight the great things others have written.
-No bashing other people's rec choices. (Though that really shouldn't be a problem around these parts, I kind of had to include it.)
So. I'll start.
Rec me your favorite happy fic.
