Hey, gang. I'm doing a paper on Twitter for my Writing Style and Technology course. I want to take some screen shots of my Twitter account to include with it, but I don't know how to do that.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

I don't know if it's the best way, but you could print the screen as a .PDF file. I can do that through Firefox.

I want to take screen shots of Tweet Deck, too, though, which isn't viewed through the browser.

Also, you can use Irfanview. It's a handy freeware pic program that will let you take a snapshot of anything on your screen and save as a pic file. Its one limitation in screencapturing is that it will not autoscroll. Big pain for me, but may not be a problem for what you want.

When you want to capture something like a webpage that has content beyond the bottom of the screen, (the content you have to use the scroll button on the mouse or the scrollbar on the right to see) most freeware picture programs won't scroll for you. It will only capture what is seen on the screen. There are a couple of freeware programs that will autoscroll to capture the entire page, but they tend to have adware or worse.

Oh, right on. Okay. I don't need the autoscroll, since I want to print the picture on paper. Mostly i just want to take the picture, then use Gimp or something to circle the thing on it I'm talking about.

I use a pc. All I have to do is "Print Screen" on the keyboard (sometimes you have to use ctrl with it -- in my case, I have to use the FN key), then open up paint (which usually comes with Windows).. click paste and voila! Save as a jpeg or whatever, and you're done.

It's different based on whether you have a PC, MAC or using Twitter on your phone ...

On a PC: Use the 'print screen' button. Depending on the version of your operating system you might need to hold down the ALT button too. In Windows 7 you can also use the Start Menu/All Programs/Accessories/Snipping Tool

On a MAC: Cmd+Shift+3 gives you a print of all your computer screens (including multiple monitors) and Cmd+shift+4 gives you crosshairs that lets you choose what you want to snap a screenshot of.

iPhone: Press both the home button and power button at the same time and it'll take a snapshot of your screen and put it in your photos album. For other phones see the app instruction.
