Inspired by something EntAllat brought up in the Astrology Conversation, I decided to retake the humanmetrics online personality test, not trusting facebook's short quiz!

I retook a free test here and I got INFP - the healer.

Here's the explanation.

BTW, Honeybee, Ladyrainbow, based on what little I know about both of you from online, I'd say the ones you two came out with fit well.

A great (really, GREAT, I can't recommend it enough if you're curious about the MBTI stuff) is "Please Understand Me: Character and Temperament" by David Keirsey himself and Marilyn Bates. It covers the types and temperaments in details with real world examples and how they would manifest in childhood, parenting, and in marriages both ideally and as problems.

Consistently an _NFP, I waver back and forth between E and I... I'm such a Cancer with Ascendent in Leo, LOL

BTW - my hubs is an _STJ - and he wavers between E and I.

Would you believe my touchy-feely drives him slightly nuts from time to time? Well, okay, most of the time.

I am cracking up at myself so hard right now, I had to share (although it's very possible I'm the only one who finds this funny, lol.) So, I've been browsing through some career books and they all make mention of the Myers-Briggs personality types. Back when I first entered college, we were required to take this test and I scored as an INTP. My cousin and I were talking about it since she was also required to take the test, and we did some googling to amuse ourselves. I came across a page with a very in-depth description of INTPs and I got halfway through when I saw this line:

"Examples of fictional characters who INTPs have a natural affinity for are Avon (Blake's Seven), Data (Star Trek: TNG) and Seven of Nine (Voyager)."

Both my cousin and I found this hilarious since I recently made my way through Voyager and Seven of Nine quickly became my favorite character specifically because I felt like I could relate to her. My fascination has become such an inside joke in the family that my parents keep referring to me as "Two of Two" (being the youngest of two kids and all, lol.)

Creek_chub just brought up Biggs Meyers tests so I thought I'd revive this dusty thread thread and I took the liberty of moving your post here, Creek_chub!

I'm still the Healer, INFP - which I share with Scott Bakula and Princess Diana (someone with whom I didn't think I had anything in common with!) AA. Milne and Annie Dillard are INFPs

Star Trek Characters listed are Deanna Troi, Julian Bashir and Wesley Crusher. (Of those, I think I have the most in common with Dr. Bashir).

I have to say that the description is spot-on. Particularly this part:

Counselors are scarce, little more than three percent of the population, and can be hard to get to know, since they tend not to share their innermost thoughts or their powerful emotional reactions except with their loved ones. They are highly private people, with an unusually rich, complicated inner life. Friends or colleagues who have known them for years may find sides emerging which come as a surprise. Not that Counselors are flighty or scattered; they value their integrity a great deal, but they have mysterious, intricately woven personalities which sometimes puzzle even them.

This part of the explanation resonated the most with me:

Although they are happy working at jobs (such as writing) that require solitude and close attention, Counselors do quite well with individuals or groups of people, provided that the personal interactions are not superficial, and that they find some quiet, private time every now and then to recharge their batteries.

I spend my day talking to clients and coworkers, and when I come home I don't want to deal with anybody because even though I didn't dislike the experience at work, I get "peopled out."

I find it interesting that I share these traits with Nelson Mandela, Jane Goodall, Emily Bronte, and Sir Alec Guinness.

ETA: There was another explanation to click on that I found even more accurate. This, especially:

They are, in fact, sometimes mistaken for extroverts because they appear so outgoing and are so genuinely interested in people -- a product of the Feeling function they most readily show to the world. On the contrary, INFJs are true introverts, who can only be emotionally intimate and fulfilled with a chosen few from among their long-term friends, family, or obvious "soul mates."

This page also lists Carrie Fisher and Geoffrey Chaucer as INFJs.

Here's some more on the INFP - pretty spot on as far as I go:

When making decisions, Healers follow their heart not their head, which means they can make errors of fact, but seldom of feeling. They have a natural interest in scholarly activities and demonstrate, like the other Idealists, a remarkable facility with language. They have a gift for interpreting stories, as well as for creating them, and thus often write in lyric, poetic fashion.

I'm borderline introvert/extrovert, which makes perfect sense to me.
