Solstice Eclipse!

Happy Solstice, Space Geeks!

Tonight, we have a full moon lunar eclipse on the darkest night of the year! It's clear here in Philly and I plan on checking it out - if not staying outside for the whole 72 minutes. :freezing

But it's going to be very beautiful, from what I understand, for those of us with a clear night!

Anyone else going to make their way out to look?

I think I need some black tea to keep me awake.

It's supposed to begin at 1:33 eastern time and the best viewing time is 2am.

I was raring to go earlier - but I'm feeling my long day now.

I think the wife and I are going to try and step out for just a few minutes to catch a look at it. We just went for a walk to McDonalds and the sky was looking beautifully clear.

Hubby and I were talking about this the other day. We're supposed to have rain/freezing rain tonight, so I doubt I'll be able to see it. Bummer.

Too overcast to even see the moon tonight. There is a chance of a break in the cloud cover later, but not terribly likely. :( Hope you get to see it from where you are, Mr. Smith. Sounds like the conditions are good there.

I was planning on seeing this eclipse since this weekend. The skies were clear until about an hour and half ago. Now it's too cloudy to even see the glow of the moon. :-(

It's too bad, because the last time this happened (a solstice eclipse, which puts the moon at it's highest point in the sky during the event) was in 1638. The next time won't happen in our lifetimes.
