Well, in addition to GIMP, I've got Inkscape which is a drawing programme. I plan to get a graphics tablet for that one (recommended) and I also have Celtx for scriptwriting. I use Open Office for writing, and just downloaded a desktop publisher.

I also did a caricature of Londo Mollari (Babylon 5) which I posted on my Facebook page, as I assume non-trek characters are verboten on this forum.

Those caricatures are absolutely great! I exclusively use GIMP for pretty much all my graphics, from book covers and posters to internal art etc. I clean up my hand-drawn art with it as well, erasing smudges, bleed from the reverse side, ruled lines, mistakes (far too many of those!). Try using Contrast to "whiten" the paper.

And thanks for the info on free aps. I'm always looking for something cos I am certainly no artist!
