Honeybee wrote:The workshops have been going swimmingly, and I think those of us who have had their fics workshopped can say it's been a rewarding experience.
But, I would like to make them better. So, please feel free to suggest things.
Also, I have some questions:
Can anyone think of more questions that would be helpful for critics?
In a RL writing workshop, the upper limit of critics is usually 9 or 10 - do you think there should be an upper limit? Right now, I am setting the lower limit at three.
Here ae the questions we have now:
1) Are the characters, if they are canon, in character? Are they well delineated? Is the dialogue in character?
2) If there are OCs, do they serve a function? Are they well-developed?
3) Is the scene(s) well-described?
4) Are there any canon violations? Does the alien culture described (Vulcans or otherwise) fit in with canon?
5) Does the plot make sense? Does it flow? If unfinished, do you see any possible resolutions?
6) Any other suggestions?
Suggested questions:
Is there enough conflict going on to keep you interested?
Is the writer revealing enough to keep you engaged?
Does the plot include twists, turns and surprises?
I would say the most important element is conflict.
