Ten Rules for Writing Fiction

This is a great article that surveys several authors on what their 10 rules for writing fiction are:

Ten Rules for Writing Fiction, part one
Ten Rules for Writing Fiction, part two

Some of the authors are humorous, some deal with writing as a career, but there are many good tidbits about good writing. My favorite is "never use adverbs." I used to be president of the adverb fan club. :P

Very humorous indeed. My computer screen narrowly missed a bath!
Thank you for posting those links.

Thank you for the link. It was interesting to see all the different views on writing. Some I agreed with; some I didn't. What tickled me was that a number of the writers said not to get hung up on not agreeing with rules or guidelines, but that you should stick to what you believe is best.

I also recognized myself in some of the comments. For instance, throwing out an entire first chapter because the story really begins in the second chapter. Been there.
