This is one of the best illustrations of "less is more" I've ever seen.
As a zine editor one of the biggest things I notice is when an author gets bogged down in giving us conspicuous detail--it's one of the facets of the term I've coined, "spoon-feedy".
As the author of the article astutely points out, not everyone is a Hemingway. But, comparing and contrasting the two examples here, the point she's making is easily taken.
