Something's missing

I enjoy both reading and writing fanfiction, but there's something that this forum doesn't really provide: discussions on stories. We can write reviews, but there really isn't a place to take someone's story, whether in progress or completed, and discuss the plot, writing techniques, interesting premises, characters, etc. I know that I would like to get a better handle on what other people think of what I write. I would imagine that other people would like more feedback, too. I know that things have been very quiet around here, but would there be any interest in tackling someone's story and discussing it? Are there any stories that you'd like to discuss?

Happy New Year! :Hello

I'd love to do that. I'll think about stories I'd like to discuss, but I'd be happy to discuss any you choose.

We could discuss a complete story or one that's in progress. There are a number of stories I really like. It might also be interesting to discuss a story that doesn't leave you feeling comfortable. We could each propose a list of five stories we'd like to discuss. We could do one story at a time or several at a time. I'm open to all sorts of possibilities.

A little late to the party but, hell yeah, I'd be interested in something like this! And same - I'd be happy to come up with a couple of stories I'd like to discuss, go with whatever y'all come up with, or even offer up one of my own, whether it be done or in-progress.

I especially like the idea of including one that makes you uncomfortable. Did you have a particular one in mind?

Alright, here's some possibilities:

One of Dinah's stories (your choice, Dinah!)
One of my unfinished ones. Maybe.
Cap'n Frances? Your latest one, perhaps?

I'd love "missing scenes" and stories where the author weaves in part of an existing scene into their own narrative. I can only think of two off the top of my head though:
Ad Oculos by Rigil Kent
Broken Gods by HopefulRomantic
Any of the missing scenes by Alelou

Or a discussion of three different stories that re-imagine (or "fix") the finale?

If we can come up with a set, I'll create a whole new forum dedicated to story discussion over in Main Engineering, and poke a few people by PM to see if they'll join in to get a lively discussion going.
