STE crossover with Desperate Housewives

OK, is anybody here also a fan of Desperate Housewives? I saw the ads for it but never got interested. Anyway, while looking for something else, I found that Steven Culp (a.k.a. Major Hayes) was Bree's husband on that show. I know his character was a doctor and that he died, but that's all I know.

The plot bunny I'm putting up for adoption (since I can't properly care for it myself) is how Bree's husband faked his death and joined the MACOs (kind of like joining the French Foreign Legion) to escape from her and Wisteria Lane but finds, much to his chagrin, that he is now stuck dealing with Malcolm instead. I see this story as occurring before their big fight. Can anyone who knows Desperate Housewives think of a way to make this work?

Sounds interesting, but I've never seen an episode of DH.

:rolf :rolf Faked his heart attack while having sex w/the neighbor? I guess that would fit w/Desperate Housewives.

Anyone notice that a lot of Stephen Culp's characters end up dying? Hayes, Rex Van de Kamp (DH), Clayton Webb (JAG, but OK, he faked his death there too and came back). The one time he was on SGA he died too.

What are you laughing at, ladyrainbow? Trip ain't dead, either!

See, I figure if the local paramedics were being supervised under his license, then maybe he could bribe a couple of them to help him out.

Is Bree the real persnickety, snobby (well, more than the others) one? If not, then maybe the story can't work. I was hoping neat freak, control freak, standoffish Malcolm would be at least as much of a pain in the tail as Bree and for many of the same reasons. I guess I'm kind of looking for a degree of comedy in an ironic sort of way.

Bree is definitely the control freak, persnickety one, the red head.

And her husband was in fact (Spoiler Alert) murdered by a pharmacist who wanted Bree for himself. Rex did have a heart condition and the pharmacist gave him the incorrect meds, leading to Rex's death.

I haven't seen an episode since the first season. I also know:

Rex was unfaithful, having a regular appointment with the neighborhood prostitute. She would dominate him. After Bree found out, she agree to do the same thing to Rex. Their marriage was improving at the time of his death.

Their son is gay.

Bree's the control-freak, neat-freak, perfectionist, OCD, neurotic. She began seeing another guy, who tampered with her husband's heart medication, which (sorta) directly led to his heart attack.

Oh, and Bree's a good cook (think Martha Stewart or Suzy Homemaker) who has training in firearms and owns 4 (maybe more?) guns. And is an NRA supporter. :ROFL

FYI: Moved this thread to "Idea Space".

I was torn between this forum and the other television one - but since the thread is about Glory's story - I put in here. ;)

Carry on!

And yes, I think I saw Steven Culp talk about his habit of playing "dead" characters.

Oh my! This gets better and better. If Hayes were really Rex in a former life (shall we say), then I could see this leading to Reed/Hayes once they'd had their big fight. Malcolm would not have a problem dominating him, that's for sure!

Seriously, if anybody thinks they might have fun messing about with this idea, you are welcome to it. I don't think I could do it justice.

If I wasn't in the middle of writing a multi-chapter story right now, I'd take a shot at it.
