Hummingbird2 wrote:Based on a challenge I saw on a different site, I've written a series of ten word 'snibbles':

1. “What do you mean, you’re late?” Malcolm asked Hoshi, aghast.

2. Trip was dazzled by the beauty of the ice caves.

3. She was in love. Logic was of no use now.

4. Jon stood behind the glass, wishing he could comfort them.

5. “Stun or kill?”
“I’ll leave that up to you, Major.”

6. “That’s it, no more pineapple cake with beer,” Malcolm groaned.

7. Phlox was stunned. He hadn’t really expected Mettus to respond.

8. As he began his journey, Mestral did not look back.

9. I’m trying to protect my people, Degra reminded himself daily.

10. “It’s a girl!” Liz cried with joy. Travis almost fainted.

This looked like fun, so I made a thread for it.

Here's my contribution (by way of PBS celebrating Julia Child's 100th birthday):

"Creme brulee!"
"So that's why Chef wanted a phase pistol."

I love this idea! Thanks for sharing it with us, Hummingbird. And Glory, I'd love to see Chef working with that phase pistol!

If you've seen the episode of Julia Child's cooking show where she makes creme brulee and uses a full-size (like you'd probably get at Home Depot or Ace) blow torch to make the carmelized crust, then you'll know where Chef got the idea. :laugh Apparently, there are small, kitchen-sized, "girl-sized" blow torches available for just this use. My sister-in-law has one. I would have PAID to have gone to Bed, Bath and Beyond with my brother when he went looking for it! :laugh

I can hardly wait to see other people's contributions to this thread!

Mine:

Malcolm doesn't believe in fate; the present is too changeable.

Here are a couple for "Similitude":

Pure canine instinct made Porthos love Trip But Not Trip. :puppykiss

When he saw who was in the box, Porthos howled.

I'll have to put my thinking cap on for this. In the meantime, well done everybodies...

This is harder to do than it appears. So here's what I came up with:

Whiskey soothed, but it couldn't compare to chocolate for Hoshi.

That's really nice, Kathy Rose! :D Reminds me of your story 'Switched'.

Here's another one (Father/Son AU):

Erika practically melted at the sight of her new Grandson.
