A lot of you already know how this works. For those of you who've tuned in late, here's what we do:

Every month, I give a prompt--usually a single word, but sometimes a short phrase. You write an Enterprise-inspired story based on that prompt. Any style, genre, or pairing (if applicable) is cool...no maximum or minimum word count.

Here's where things get a little different from before: now that we have an archive, you're gonna have it beta read, and submit it for posting!

Prompts don't expire, so if this one grabs you later, it's cool, go for it--we're not gonna tell you not to write!

I'll have a story to you later today for beta. I've only tried a challenge a few times before.

I wanted to do this one, but I've been so busy. I'll try to catch up later.

I'm becoming acutely aware that I'm almost running out of time, but I hope to get this finished before the end of December, providing Malcolm decides to be less stubborn.

No worries, Mr. Smith and Mistress Euclid. The monthly prompts don't expire. We have a "never too late" policy when it comes to them.

For the sake of order and posterity, I thought it appropriate to mention my recent two-part fic I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud was actually in response to this prompt (though several months late). It's Archer/Reed, PG-13 and archived here.
