I know. They never met onscreen... but seriously, after reading some compelling fanfic. I'm convinced! Maybe I'm the only weirdo that likes this... but just in case...

My two favorite S/A fics are both by ShouldKnowBetter:

"There is No Sin But Ignorance"

"A Truth Universally Acknowledged"

Eventually I will be adding my own epic S/A fic to the list for the very few who see potential in the pairing.

I confess I have never read any of those fics, but it's so delightfully weird - I'm going to have to take the time to do so!

Anyone else on board with this?

I was wondering--does anyone know who originally had the idea to put these two together, how it all came about? It just never would've occurred to me...

I'm pretty sure that ShouldKnowBetter is the one who came up with the pairing in the first place.

I believe it occured in her "Daybreak" series with a Captain Soval from another universe that Amanda Cole meets. The series is actually a TnT fic... I don't know how long after that her other S/A stories came about (there is another one: "The Mean Old Vulcan and the MACO")

It caught like wild fire in Soval's Annex... some wrote only friendship fics with the two of them... Linda usually writes post-marriage fics. I know one author on FF.net that writes about them as well.

I'm relatively certain that's how it happened.

Yes, it's a weird pairing. But I like it.

My fic will be decidedly different though. I have a slightly different take on things (particularly the character of Amanda) and choose to have my story take place years after ENT and deal with some serious issues that are not necessarily S/A centric.

This is my favorite pairing. Really! I like Trip and T'Pol but Soval and Amanda had more spark for me after reading ShouldKnowBetter's stories. I realize the relationship is not canon, darn, but with a little imagination (and introduction to them as a pair from SKB) I saw that it was an exciting idea. And in the series, I liked Soval from the first episode and was disapointed that he was not in more episodes.
