What happens when you suddenly can't communicate with those around you? Not only have you lost the ability to speak, but to understand and to write as well. There is more than one way to get a message across, as we'll find out.

Some of the medical mystery is cleared up, but there are other complications. Hoshi finds the former location of Nah'lai's planet.

There's a reference to Star Wars in this chapter.

Wernicke's Area of the brain involves language comprehension and vocabulary. If this area is affected by trauma, the patient has problems understanding others and finding the words to communicate. (This is called Wernicke's Aphasia). Intelligence isn't usually affected in this case.

Broca's Area is located close to Wernicke's Area and deals with the physical ability to use language and grammar. It's also close to the cerebellum, the motor area of the brain.

Enterprise returns to where Nah'lai's story began. The crew helps her 'return' home. Travis does some fancy flying.

Here is the Epilogue. Nah'lai's tactical sense helps Hoshi in a situation.

There's a small nod to ENT "Sleeping Dogs".
