I really like the notion that a fortune cookie could play such an important part in the doctor's decision. His fascination with Humans also helped.

Well now we know why he had his animals with him. I'm almost certain that no one has addressed that before!

Thank you for the review.  I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

Phlox is such a fun character to play with.  He sees things so eccentrically from a human POV.  I figure that he might consider the cookie as a way for the random universe to speak to him.  It's nice to know I may have a first.

I've always wondered why several of the characters brought all of their stuff for an eight-day trip. For example, why would T'Pol bring all of the decorations we saw in "Breaking the Ice"? For the others I decided that they must have rendezvoused with a transport ship after the orders came in to keep the mission going. But Phlox had those animals in "Broken Bow." I like your explanation, because it's true to his character. Phlox wouldn't entrust his animals to just anybody. I also like how you had him wrestle with the decision.

Thanks for the review.  I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

We know that the Vulcan's are out there (they were going to send a ship for her) so to have Soval send the rest of T'Pol's things would make sense.  Plus, Vulcan's would pack light.  As to the humans, they were going to be leaving soon anyways.  Enterprise's launch was only moved up (based on Hoshi's complaints) about three weeks, so a lot of their stuff might have already been on board.  And when they heard the launch was moving up, they just finished the packing the rest quicker.  I would imagine there's a limit to how much could be taken.  Phlox was the only one that appeared to need that explanation at least to me.  After all, these are living creatures, not clothes and knickknacks which Phlox doesn't seem to have a lot of.  As to the rest, I think the show showed Phlox as one who was interested in learning new things but also highly movtivated to finish his research projects.  Even Archer apologizes for taking him away from his work in BB.

I must admit, I never thought about why Phlox would bring his menagerie along, but this a good explanation. Thank you.

Listen to your gut, Phlox! LOL!

Nice character piece on him, and I like the explanation for why he took his menagerie on the trip to Kronos. Makes sense.

Great story!

Lady Rainbow,

Thanks for the review.  I'm glad you enjoyed the story.  In rewatching the episode, it just hit me...why?  They were only going to be gone eight days.  Also, considering how Archer and Phlox met, there just seemed to be more of a story there as well.

Wonderful explanation of how Phlox's creatures came to be aboard the ship, asearcher. And seeing the beginning of the series from Phlox's point of view was interesting.

You had several turns of phrase that were delightful, such as Phlox saying he'd "allowed my musings to deprive my palate of its bliss." That sounds just like him! And comparing the Happy Family entre to a Denobulan family -- LOL!

Thanks for the review.  I'm glad you enjoyed the story.  I love Phlox and like all of the characters, try to be true to who they are.  It would be nice to see more Denobulans in the ST universe.  They are such an interesting species.
