As superficially 'shocking' as this was, I found it entirely credible. Grief can act on people in the strangest ways, and perhaps both of them were seeking the only comfort they could find. Very sad. Two bodies touching across a void of loss.

Wow! This is just...wow! I'm slightly uneasy with the fact that Jon and T'Pol did what they did since Jon's married to someone else and it's so soon after Trip's death, and yet the reasoning behind it, as it's written here, makes sense. I don't think it would have worked as well if it wasn't set in the E2 universe.
They both miss Trip so much. I can see how they might seek each other out for comfort, especially Jon going to T'Pol instead of the other way around, because despite what she's feeling, she's trying to deal with it in a Vulcan manner. That she won't look at him while it's happening is a good touch, giving a lot more veracity to the situation and what she's feeling.
It took a lot of courage to write this, and I'm glad you did. I think it's an entirely possible scenario under the E2 circumstances.
Thanks! It's certainly a tough subject matter, and you should be uneasy with what they did. It's two people in terrible grief, and in the very difficult circumstances of the E2 universe. I'm so glad you found it worthwhile!

First I have to commend you for tackling a difficult subject. This story is very well written, as always.Being a TnT fan, I didn't want to like it -- and I'm afraid I don't -- but it really made me stop and think. There are so many difficult and complex emotions going on here.
It's the ladies I feel sorry for here. T'Pol is obviously missing her husband and bondmate. And poor Esilia comes out looking like she would always be second best in Archer's eyes.
One sentence defines this story for me: "He wanted to take his time, savor what he had been dreaming about all these years." This would seem to remove this from strictly an effort to comfort T'Pol. With Trip gone -- the funeral barely over -- Jon finally had the chance to find out what he was missing all these years. And the idea that he was concerned that it would happen again doesn't say much for his devotion to his wife.
I guess the eyes say it all: Archer can't take his eyes off T'Pol, savoring the sight of her body, while T'Pol can't look at him. I wish I really knew what T'Pol was feeling. What effect has the bond had on her after Trip's loss? Is she really ready to move on so quickly? Who did she really imagine was making love to her? So many questions -- very well done!
Oh thank you! This wasn't an easy story to write, and I don't think either of them are at their best. I won't comment so much on your speculation except to say that you're spot on in your observations of both their behavior. And you've pointed out to me that Jon is being a real bastard here, but I hope a sympathetic one. The E2 universe must have been very difficult for all!

Am I bad person for wanting Jon and T'Pol to keep having an affair? Because...DAMN!
I don't know. I like this raw need you've tapped into here. Of COURSE they're the only ones who are going to get what the other is going through -- and they're the only ones who've got what the other needs.
Grief does screwy things to people. I like that this isn't afraid to go there. I like that it makes me WANT it to got here.
Do I feel bad for Jon's wife? Hell, yeah. Do I wish Trip had lived so he and T'Pol could live happily ever after? Hell, yeah. But this is so delicious in its wrongness/rightness. Nice work.
Oh, thank you! I had the idea for this years ago when I wrote my E2 series, but i changed canon and let Trip live. But the idea never left me. I'm glad it works for you! Maybe you and I will be the only ones. :) Thanks for the beta and the much appreciated praise.
